My Name ist Flo Slomka, i`m 36 years old and i`m a Social Worker.

How long have you been shooting with film, and what do you love about film?

I`m shooting Film since 5 years now. My love about film shooting is to work with the old style cameras and to work with Film, i like the look of Film and also i enjoy the Work in my Darkroom.

What film do you usually use?

I have my favorites in B&W, i mostly use Trix400 and for Colorfilm i prefer Portra160 and Ektar 100. Currently i like to use the Washi Films and found my love to Slide Film.

Have you ever used a film that has expired?

Yes, i used a lot of Ektachrome, i love the look of this film. But currently i only can buy expired Film (looking forward to Kodak 😉 ) If i buy expired Film i take care that the expire date is not before the 2000`s. I dont made bad experiences with it.

Do you develop your own film, or send it to a lab?

I develop all of my Film by my self. I own a Darkroom in my basement. It`s Important for me to be able to process everything by myself.

If you develop your film at home, what chemicals do you use?

I use several Chemicals, mostly i use Adox ADX I+II, i like the Results and versatility. But i also use HC-110 and Ilford ID-11. For the Paperwork i use Moersch ECO 4812 and Adox MCC.

What do you like shooting with film?

I like the craft with Film. I like the slowness, i’m fully concentrate of what i`m doing. And of course the work with the old cameras.

And why shooting with film in today’s digital world?

It`s just my way to take photos. Everybody should be take photos how he wants, it doesn’t matter if its digital or film or Smartphone.

What would you like to photograph in the future with film?

Im open minded.

Do you like more color or black and white?

Both.

Which camera do you use?

Currently i mostly use my mediumformat Pinholes from Reality SoSubtle in 6×6 and 6×17. For me this reflects the purest art of photography. Also i use a Shen Hao Large Format Camera. But i have a lot of Cameras that i often use, my favorit 35mm is my Olympus OM-2 with the Zuiko 1.4/50mm and my new Camera the Hasselblad Xpan. I Also like to use my Polaroid SX-70 Camera.

And what’s the camera of your dreams?

This is a difficult question. Recently i unexpected become a Hasselblad Xpan and this was a dream. Maybe a Contax G2 oder a Leica M6.

Three photographers that inspire your film photography?

I get my inspiration over the Social Medias, Facebook and Instagram. Out there a is a lot of talent and great Photographers. Photographer whose books I am always happy to look at, are Phillipe Halsmann and Christopher Thomas

Your photography in three words.

Unperfect, puristic, Just Analog.

Do you have any School education in film photography? Or you are an autodidact, who has learned from your mistakes and successes?

I`m a fully autodidact. Everything i can, i have learn by myself, with all the mistakes and frustration and i have still learn a lot more.

What do you think about the future of film photography?

It will be ever a niche market, but i think there is a future for analog photography.

And do you think it’s possible in 20 years to continue using film?

Yes, if anyone produce Film, there is somebody who works with Film.
